Who is eligible to take the Certification Maintenance exams?
Everyone who holds the following MuleSoft Certifications:
- MuleSoft Certified Developer - Level 1
- MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect - Level 1
- MuleSoft Certified Platform Architect - Level 1
Eligibility is determined by a passing score on the test-taker's previous certification exam present in their learner profile. If the two-year certification has expired, the test-taker will not be eligible for Certification Maintenance and will need to take the full exam to renew their certification. MuleSoft recommends the certified user take their maintenance exam within the final three months before their current certification expires.
Approximately ninety (90) days before the date your current certification expires, you will receive two free attempts in your Learner dashboard for the respective Certification Maintenance Exam. You need to schedule, take, and pass the maintenance exam before your current certification expires. MuleSoft Training will send automated reminder emails three months, one month, and 14 days before the current certification expiration date, notifying the test-taker to schedule and take the Certification Maintenance exam.
What is the format of the Certification Maintenance exams?
The exams are proctored, 45 minutes, 25 questions. Passing score is 70%.
How long is the maintenance exam valid?
The recertification is valid for two years from the date the recertify exam is passed.
What languages are the maintenance exams?
English and Japanese
What are the prerequisites for the maintenance exams?
You must already hold the certification for the relevant following exams:
- MuleSoft Certified Developer - Level 1
- MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect - Level 1
- MuleSoft Certified Platform Architect - Level 1

What is the cost of the maintenance exams?
There is no additional cost for the maintenance exam. Approximately ninety (90) days before the date your current certification expires, you will receive two free attempts in their Learner dashboard for their respective Certification Maintenance Exam.
You need to schedule, take, and pass the maintenance exam before your current certification expires. MuleSoft Training will send automated reminder emails three months, one month, and 14 days before the current certification expiration date, notifying you to schedule and take the Certification Maintenance exam.
If you do not use the two attempts or fail to pass the exam with the two attempts, then the maintenance exam will be removed from your dashboard. You will need to purchase, schedule, and pass the full Certification Exam to maintain or renew your certification.
