For certification exams that have prerequisites, such as the Certification Maintenance exams, and the MuleSoft Certified Developer - Level 2 exam, the prerequisite MuleSoft Certification must be valid and active. This means that the test-taker must have passed the certification within the last two (2) years and the prerequisite courses or exams be present in their learner's dashboard.
Certifications expire two (2) years from the issue date. In order to qualify for the Certification Maintenance exam for that certification, the certification MUST BE VALID. Certification Maintenance exams can be taken at any point while the certification is valid, although usually within the final six to three months of the certification period.
