This is an exam security requirement to ensure the integrity of our exams. The online proctor accesses your computer just as your company’s technical support does when you request computer assistance.
The proctor will verbally communicate that they will be accessing your computer to secure the environment including the web browser and system processes like disconnecting a virtual machine. You will be able to see the proctor’s actions. The proctor cannot perform "hidden" actions. This access is only granted with your explicit permission and after you've clicked a button to confirm. However, if you do not grant permission to the proctor, you will not be able to complete the exam online.
Once the exam starts, the proctor will monitor everything on your computer screen and the overall exam environment. During the entire process, a chat box is running on your computer should you need assistance. The entire chat session log is saved, including a permanent record of what actions the proctor took while accessing your computer.
